Let’s Talk

I don’t work with briefs, packages, or mood boards.

I work with people whose story moves me — and with moments that deserve more than a phone screen.

Whether it’s the companion who knows you without words, the way your child looks at the world, the quiet beauty of three generations together, or a craft you’ve spent years perfecting — if something true is happening, I want to photograph it.

There are no standard sessions here. Every project begins with a conversation.

Write to me. Tell me what matters to you.

— Jean-Michel

"We cannot thank Jean-Michel enough for the incredible gift he gave our family. … If you are looking for someone who truly cares and captures moments that matter, we cannot recommend him enough."

With a conversation. You write to me, I write back. We talk about who you are, what matters to you, and whether it makes sense to work together. No commitment at this stage — just two people figuring out if there's something worth photographing.

For anyone who cares more about connection than appearance, and who doesn't want to perform for a camera. Families, couples, individuals — and the animals who share their lives. If you're drawn to images that feel lived rather than produced, this is likely for you.

No. I may offer gentle guidance when needed, but most of what happens is natural. It's about being present, moving, interacting — letting the moment shape itself. Nothing is forced or rehearsed.

Almost everyone does. We don't rush it. The first few minutes are about settling in, finding a rhythm, and letting the camera fade into the background. The awkwardness softens, and something more honest takes its place. That's when the real moments begin.

In places that make sense for you. Outdoors, or in locations with meaning or simplicity. The setting supports the images — it never competes with them.

Rain changes the mood, not the session. If conditions are uncomfortable or unsafe, we reschedule. Otherwise, we adapt.

Yes — in their consistency, not in imitation. The foundation doesn't change: light, restraint, and honesty. What will always remain the same is the intention — to stay faithful to what happens, and to who you are.

Retouching follows trends — faded tones one year, oversaturated colors the next. It can flatter for a moment, but it rarely feels authentic over time. Artistic development is different. It's about light, balance, and subtle interpretation. I do not use artificial intelligence to reshape faces, bodies, or moments. The goal is always the same: images that remain yours, timeless and true.

A private gallery of individually developed images in high resolution, plus a signed fine art print. Every image is developed by hand — no filters, no AI, no batch processing. The process is slow and deliberate, closer to a darkroom than to a digital workflow.

Yes. After you've seen your gallery, we can discuss additional fine art prints, framing, or canvas. No pressure — only what feels right to you.

Every project is different, and pricing depends on the scope of what we create together. I'll share all the details during our conversation, before any commitment.

Because every image is developed individually, the process takes time. Expect your gallery within two to three weeks. Good work doesn't rush well.

I work between San Francisco and New York. I'm also open to travel for the right project.

Like something remembered rather than staged. Quiet. Grounded. Images that feel true over time.
